A Brief Explanation

The purpose of this website is to provide interesting dots for people to practice their reading. Many of them do not feature chords and are simply transcriptions of the dots that the player needs to read to execute a performance of the tune, solo or passage in question. The purpose is to help and encourage bass players to LEARN TO READ MUSIC. Some of the charts are full transcriptions whilst some are just a bass solo or a solo by another instrument (trumpet, sax, trombone etc). Some are just a riff or a pattern that Rob transcribed for his own purposes. The tunes are selected randomly and are nothing more than a representation of the lines, solos and passages that have caught his attention over the 40 years or more he has been playing. If there is anything you want to see transcribed on here, drop Rob a message and he might have a crack at it (or he might not, the moody sod). The transcriptions are prepared using Transcribe software from seventhstring.com and Sibelius from Avid. A recent edition to the stable of software used in the preparation of these transcriptions is the Moises App that allows you to isolate the bass (and any other instrument) thereby giving you access to details that may otherwise have eluded you. The transcriptions are all presented as pdfs.
