Chuck Rainey – Bass

Another one from the catalogue of Messrs. Becker and Fagen, this is the complete Chuck Rainey part for the tune ‘Josie’ which closed the original 1977 Steely Dan album ‘Aja’. I am not entirely sure what Rainey is doing it; it sounds like a king of hybrid slapping which doesn’t use the thumb like Larry Graham or Marcus Miller uses but the flat of the fingers in the way Abe Laboriel does. Whatever works for you, I guess.
