Aston ‘Family Man’ Barrett – Bass

I have played this 100 times on gigs over the years but never looked at the track closely until now. There is often a lot more going on with Reggae bass than you think. The emphasis on triplet feels is something I had picked up on but there are some other things going on that this transcription has revealed for me. For me, it is all about the sound.

The tune is the Bob Marley evergreen, ‘Is This Love’ from the 1978 album ‘Kaya’. There is a triplet feel on the eighth notes but that will become obvious very early on.
