Luizão Maia – Bass

I gravitated to this tune following the ‘A Paz’ transcription featuring Arthur Maia because this tune was another that I regularly performed with a Brazilian music slanted band I was in called Braziliance! It wasn’t until I looked up the players that I became aware that the bass player on the original Djavan track is Luizão Maia, Arthur’s uncle. What are the chances! The bass sounds like an old Fender Precision (is Luizão Maia the Brazilian James Jamerson to Arthur’s Palladino?) but the feel in uniquely Brazilian and has that ‘surdo’ feel. A great chart for learning to read 16th notes fluidly.
