Reginald Veal – Bass

This one is a prelude to the tune ‘Uptown Ruler’ from the 1991 Marsalis album, ‘Uptown Ruler: Soul Gestures In Southern Blue, Vol. 2’ (it repeats at the end of side 2 and ‘bookends the whole album although the one at the end sees the ostinato played an actave lower). The title track is on here also but I miscredited to Bob Hurst for reasons I cannot fathom. It is only a short piece but has that lovely octave ostinato that opens the piece. Easy to ready and to play but remember it is all in the listening and the sensitive relationship the players have with the time.
