Andy Fraser – Bass

I guess this is one of the most iconic bass lines in Rock. I wanted to transcribe THAT part to see what AF was doing but it seemed silly not to do the whole thing. There is an astonishing LACK of bass on the track as Fraser does not play in the verses so there are a lot of empty bars that you have to count. The riff he does behind the guitar solo is the same thing repeated 9 times so that was easy too. A great little line that secured Fraser’s place in Rock history.

It’s all pretty diatonic and there isn’t much to challenge you once you figure it out. From the 1970 Free album, ‘All Right Now’ (I know I have mislabelled it ‘Alright Now’ on the chart but I am not going to re-draft it for that).
