Jimmy Woode – Bass
The slowest bass playing in Jazz – Jimmy Woode was perfectly capable of swinging a Big Band in the strongest of fashions but his playing on this is absolutely minimalist. Strictly root notes on one, I have included it here for people who are just getting used to playing with the dots in front of them. There is literally NOTHING on this chart to trip you up; it’s all just note recognition at the slowest of tempos. That is the only thing that is hard about it; maintaining the integrity of the piece without compromising the slow current.
