Bob Lang – Bass

Yes, I know this has also been credited to at least three other bass players including John Paul Jones but, after 45 seconds of extensive research, I came to the conclusion that it was Lang. Please don’t fill my inbox with ‘no, it was….’ messages as I don’t really care.

I did a couple of gigs with a lovely Essex based singer called Helen Abbey in which she included a few songs I had never heard before including this one and ‘It’s For You’ by Cilla Black. There are a lot of great tunes that tend to get lost as time passes and these are a few that I go back to every now and then when I need to renew my faith in human nature.

The line has that wonderful Fender Precision thud about it. Whether it was a Fender, I don’t know but it’s a great tune with some nice/unusual harmonic movement in there. Bob Lang’s bass part from ‘To Sir, With Love’ from the film of the same name (this version was off
