Jorge Casas – Bass
The one band I would not refuse to do a tribute band for! Miami Sound Machine were the band that launched the career of Gloria Estefan who made some great records in her own right, fusing Latin rhythms with 80s Pop and Funk. There are some monster arrangements and some great horn and rhythm section parts and this track is no exception. The tune is ‘1-2’3’ from the 1987 Miami Sound machine album, ‘Let It loose’ and from the opening lick, is just a massive buzz. Can’t but smile. The bass player is Jorge Casas who was the mainstay of the MSM. Some classic first generation slapping (roots and octaves) so most of us have a chance of nailing it. Worth going through slowly at first as there is a a lot of 16th note off-beats to contend with!
