Al Di Meola – Guitar
I am working on my guitar reading and found that I am again frustrated at the lack of decent material to work with so I thought, here we go again! I have been listening to Al Di Meola for probably 45 years and, over the years, I have learned that I much prefer his acoustic playing to the fusion stuff. I am particularly drawn to his solo guitar pieces (I even hate it when he overdubs himself). It was also through Al’s World Sinfonia albums that I got to love Astor Piazzolla’s works and this is one of the Piazzolla tunes that Al included on his 2008 album, ‘Diabolic Inventions And Seduction For Solo Guitar Volume I (Music Of Astor Piazzolla)’. There are other tunes on there that I would love to have a crack at one day but, as it stands, this is probably the only one I have a cat’s chance in hell of playing! I am still waiting for Volume II, Al!
The tune is called ‘Romantico’.
