Tuesday’s Gone – Lynyrd Skynyrd

Leon Wilkerson – Bass

A little more Southern Rock from the Skynyrd. The bass parts to a lot of these songs are surprisingly complex and the only saving grace when looking through this chart is that the tempo is not too rapid. There are actually a couple of 32nd note fills in there which is a button I rarely have to press! The tune is ‘Tuesday’s Gone’ from the band’s debut album ‘(Pronounced ‘Lĕh-‘nérd ‘Skin-‘nérd)’. Wilkerson was the main bass player throughout the band’s history and was involved in the 1977 plane crash that resulted in the deaths of three of his bandmates. He suffered injuries that compromised his playing thereafter but he did remain with the band and its offshoots until his death in 2001.
