Reginald Veal – Bass

I love the soul that this guy brings to his ballad playing. The track is the Ray Noble evergreen, ‘The Very Thought Of You’ and this performance is from the 1990 Wynton Marsalis album, ‘Standard Time Vol. III: The Resolution of Romance’. The transcription is the complete bass performance but it is only really two choruses (the whole album consists of similarly short performances). It is not overly challenging as the tempo is sedate but there are a lot of details on the score around phrasing so be mindful of that element of the chart. The arco bit at the end sounds a bit icky to my ears (the bow squeals a bit) but what do I know?
