El Son De Teo – Carlos Henriquez

Carlos Henriquez – Bass

The main squeeze from the latest string of Wynton Marsalis bands made his own record in 2026, a set of arrangements of Thelonious Monk tunes given the Cuban feel. The album is called ‘Monk Con Clave’ and the track here is the one I think is the most Cuban on the whole recording, ‘El Son De Teo’. It is not impossibly hard to read but you have to get into that Latin mindset where the one is not the beat that everything hang on. It is actually a really good chart to start getting into this genre on as it is not too fast for people trying to thing outside their comfort zone.
