
Ray Drummond – Bass
Ray Drummond (November 23, 1946 – November 1, 2025) was an American jazz bassist and teacher. He also had an MBA from Stanford University, hence his linkage to the Stanford Jazz Workshop. He can be heard on hundreds of albums and co-led The Drummonds with Renee Rosnes and (not related) Billy Drummond.
Drummond died on November 1, 2025, at the age of 78.
Along with his own recordings, Drummond performed with Toshiko Akiyoshi (p), Bill Barron (ts), Kenny Barron (p), Arnett Cobb (as), George Coleman (ts), Ted Curson (tr), Teddy Edwards (ts), Art Farmer (tr), Benny Golson (as), Curtis Fuller (tbn), Johnnuy Griffin (ts), Tom Harrell (tr), John Hicks (p), Lee Konits (as), David Murray, Pharaoh Sanders and a host of other players across the Jazz canon.
