Bass Player: Jimmy Bain

Jimmy Bain had a perfectly decent career as one to Heavy Rock’s first call guys, performing with Ronnie James Dio, his own Wild Horses and a handful of other Rock legends but it is for his contribution to the 1976 Rainbow album, ‘Rising’ that he is most widely known. Bain unexpectedly passed away from undiagnosed lung cancer in 2016. The album remains one of the greatest Heavy Rock albums of all time (according to Bilbo) and it is easy to overlook Bain’s contribution due to the presence of Ritchie Blackmore, Don Airey, Ronnie James Dio and Cozy Powell. Bain’s contribution is, nevertheless, Rock solid.

The attached chart if Bain’s part for the song ‘Stargazer’ from the Rising album. A couple of 6: 4 bars but otherwise not too tough due to the repetitious nature of the parts.
