Bass Player: Jeff Berlin

Another transcription from the 1985 Jeff Berlin solo album, ‘Champions’. This is Jeff’s arrangement of Cannonball Adderley’s ‘Marabi’. The chart features the main theme played in unison by Jeff and guitarist Scott Henderson. It is not a complete transcription but the rest of the tune features a fairly routine III, Vi, II, V, I sequence, a root note groove and recapitulations of all or part of the attached chart. It is essentially be-bop. It is recommended you start this one slowly and build up to tempo. There are some tricky passages and watch how Jeff changes the octaves he is playing the lines in in order to stay in the range of his four string bass.
