Jibaro – Miguel Zenon

Hans Glawischnig – Bass

I love these tunes and I love Miguel Zenon’s composition energy but, hell, these parts are impossible. This transcription is the first improvised part only on the tune ‘Jibaro’ from the 2006 Zenon album of the same name. It is very quick so you will probably need to spend some time with it to get how it feels (it is essentially on beats and off beats tripping over each other. It took me days to get this down and I had to abandon any ambition to do a complete tune as I just cannot find the rhythms (a MOISES remix was only of limited effectiveness). What makes it worse is that I have a copy of the lead sheet but still couldn’t get under it. Nevertheless, I thought I would post where I got to anyway so you can get a sense of what Glawischnig is up to. Monster chops and so tightly played.
