Mike Rutherford – Bass

This tune came upon on my YouTube on one of those reaction videos (not sure what all THAT is about). It was the Gabriel version from ‘Selling England By The Pound’ (1973). I grew up immersed in the ‘Second’s Out’ version with Phil Collins on vocals. Great piece of writing across the board and, as usual, Rutherford’s parts are integrated and musical. The complete bass part for ‘Firth Of Fifth’. There are some very odd bar lengths that are going to screw you up but there are a lot of lines that are not what you would expect. Very interesting stuff.
