Tony Levin – Bass

One of the coolest players in contemporary music, Tony Levin is the first call guy for King Crimson, Peter Gabriel and a host of others too long to mention. Top drawer professionalism. I did this transcription not because I love the tune but because I love the VIDEO! And, most of all, I love that one note at the one minute mark.

This wonderfully grounded Tony Levin bass part for ‘Solsbury Hill’ (the version). I am not entirely convinced that the octave parts are Levin and they may be the piano but you can play it either way and it works. What made me smile is the fact that it is a hit single that is in 7:4 and that the bit that trips everyone up is actually the only two bars that in straight 4:4. Great video full of unbridled joy.
