Al Di Meola – Guitar
I feel able to include this chap as he is a bit of a failed bass player (like most guitarists). He has tried to record bass on a few tracks but, generally, his playing is a little stilted and he has to call upon other professional bass players to help him – Anthony Jackson, Pino Palladino, Marc Johnson, Jaco Pastorius, Tim Landers, Mike Pope, Chip Jackson, Tony Levin and others. Despite his inadequacies as a bass player, he can hold a tune on guitar so I thought I would give the guy a break and put one of his covers on here.
This is the complete Al Di Meola guitar arrangement of ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ from the 2013 album of Beatles tunes, ‘All Your Life: a tribute to The Beatles . This is one of the totally solo guitar tunes (many of them have overdubs) and I wanted to try transcribing a ‘stand-alone’ performance. If he keeps up with the practice, I think he has a fair chance of a career in a Beatles cover band. Keep it up, Al.
