Bass Player: Darryl Jones
Darryl Jones has a CV to die for and has played with a host of artists such as The Rolling Stones, Steps Ahead, John Scofield and Sting. Heading the list, however, is the Prince of Darkness himself, Miles Dewey Davis III. It was whilst he was with Miles that Jones took part in the sessions that resulted in the 1985 Columbia album, ‘You’re Under Arrest’.
Miles was always eager to push the envelope and this album is chock full of fresh ideas but one of the stand out tracks is a simple but effective pop ballad of the Cyndi Lauper tune, ‘Time After Time’. This one is an easy read and there are only a couple of fills that are remotely challenging. Lots of space in this part with lots of bars with only one or two notes. The secret of playing this one rests on respecting the length of the written notes.
