Tickets To Waterfalls – Jack Bruce

Bass Player: Jack Bruce

Jack Bruce was one of the earliest exponents of the bass player solo album although, to be fair, as well as being a bass player, Bruce is a renowned singer, arranger, composer and multi-instrumentalist, performing and recording on Piano, Organ, Double Bass, Electric Bass Cello, Guitar and Vocals. His 1969 album, ‘Songs For A Tailor’ is not a bass tour-de-force, rather it is a collection of songs that reflect the spirit of those times. Bruce played this track, ‘Songs For A Tailor’, when he performed with the Cozy Powell band that toured after the release of the drummer’s ‘Over The Top’ album in 1979. Nice little song and the bass part is interesting without being too difficult to execute. An intermediate read with some passages that may need preparation but fun nevertheless. For those of us around when this came out, a great period in Rock history.
