Bass Player: Bert Ruiter

Focus are a Dutch progressive rock band formed in Amsterdan in 1969 by keyboard/vocalist/flute player Thijs Van Leer anbd Jan Akkerman. The line-up has changed throughout the life of the band but their biggest hit remains the tune ‘Sylvia’ from the 1972 album, Focus 3. The bass player on that track was Bert Ruiter. The part of mostly written with just a couple of improvised fills but this is great fun to play and does not require superhero reading skills. The track in the attached video is the single itself but the video is of an era and, for those of us around at the time, incredibly nostalgic.
