Max Bennett – Bass

Another one of those timeless Joni Mitchell tunes, this is the complete Max Bennett bass performance on the tune ‘Song For Sharon’ from the 1976 Joni Mitchell album ‘Hejira’. I love that little D/Eb phrase at the end of every chorus but what I find interesting is that he does it at the end of each chorus but then twice at the end of one chorus and not at all at the end of another. Not sure what that was about but my guess is there is a story there. A beautiful, beautiful song and, when isolated, it is interesting to hear how hard Bennett is playing. The effect of the song is light but there is some growl at the low end. I can read this one cold at tempo so most people should be fairly ok.
