Bass Player: Dave LaRue

Another one of Steve Morse’s Faux-classical fugue like compositions with Dave LaRue riding shotgun. ‘Slice Of Time’ is from the 1995 Morse album, ‘Structural Damage’. The transcription is profoundly challenging as it jumps around the neck a lot and the note choices take you into and out of different octaves in a way that most parts don’t do. We are not entirely convinced that the whole thing is entirely accurate as there is something going on with the bar lengths that we cannot figure out. We are hearing it in 6:8 but there sounds like there might be an odd bar of 9:8 in there but we cannot seem to find it. If anyone can hear where the hiccup is, let us know and we can post an amended chart.

There are two charts because one was written in 6:8 and a second in a (fast) 3:4 at the suggestion of ChrisDev off Talkbass/Basschat. The second chart is probably more accurate.
