Bass Player: Steve Swallow

Taken fron the 2007 album ‘This Meets That’ by the John Scofield Trio, this transcription is a one chorus bass solo by long time Scofield sideman, Steve Swallow. Swallow and Sco have played together since they were at Berklee together in the 1970s and it is apparent from their playing that they have that profound relationship that musicians get when they have worked together for that long. The tune has something of a Country vibe to it albeir filtered through Scofield’s vision and the solo shows Swallow’s rich, inviting sense of humour. It is one of the greatest examples of where self expression and humour beats displays of gratuitous quatities of technique hands down.
