Jay Anderson – Bass
This looks a lot like the kind of head chart you would usually get on a gig. The bass part is repeated throughout with very little variation and there was not much with which to justify a ‘complete’ transcription.. This one is not too challenging to play once you get the gist of it (which you will, quite quickly – it’s essentially a two bar pattern repeated under the solos and the arrangement is head – sax – trumpet – percussion – head – out. Nevertheless, something interesting to chew on.
The tune is ‘San Juan Shuffle’ from the Bob Mintzer Big Band album, ‘Latin In Manhattan’ from 1998 and features the sterling work of Jay Anderson.
