Geddy Lee – Bass

Another chunk of Weinrib, this is the bass part for the tune ‘Red Lenses’ from the 194 Rush album ‘Grace Under Pressure’. These were the 1980s albums that a lot of us struggled with – synths, reggae, 4 minute tunes – we couldn’t cope. There is much to like about the material and much that grates but you can’t criticise an artist or group for not doing what you want them to do otherwise you are effectively asking them to compromise their Art, aren’t you. This trakc features Geddy Lee slapping – he ain’t Victor Wooten, bless ‘im, but listen to the percolating bass in the fade out…..
