Bass Player: Jeff Berlin
One of Bilbo’s greatest influences, users of the site will have noticed that New York born bassist Jeff Berlin’s playing features heavily. Today’s transcription is the only tune outstanding tune from the bassist’s 1986 album, ‘Pump It’. The title track opens with some fairly tricky harmonics (a repeating pattern played above the 4th and 5th frets of the G, D and A string) but is otherwise one of JB’s easiest tracks to perform. Featuring great tone and time, the tune is an old school Funk meets classic Rock mash-up. Great fun to play and only a moderately challenging read. There are some ghost notes in the main ‘Pump It’ section that are presented as an octave E but may be a left hand dead note slap. It may be worth experimenting until you find the right approach.
