Ruben Rodriguez – Bass

I have to say that I had heard of the book by Kazuo Ishiguro before I heard of the song but the book was named after the song so I guess that’s how culture works! The tune is performed on this version as a slow bossa nova and I present here as it is a relatively easy read for people who are not yet ready for the sixteenth note funk charts! The track is from the 2014 Steve Kahn album, ‘Subtext’. It is not exactly a showpiece for Rodriguez but his minimalistic approach is absolutely right for the arrangement and a credit to his musicality.
