Bass Player: Zev Katz

One of the unsung heroes of the bass guitar, KAtz has a ridiculous career that includes performances and recordings with Patti Austin, Jeff Beck, Bon Jovi, Garth Brooks, James Brown, Jackson Browne, Eric Clapton, Elvis Costello, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Sheryl Crow – and we have only got to the Cs 🙂 Not known as a soloist, Katz can groove with the best of them (you don’t get the James Brown gig otherwise)

Katz was the bass player with Bob Mintzer’s Big Band when the band recorded it’s 1986 album, ‘Camouflage’. The transcription is the full bass part and is a challenge to read primarily due to the speed of the piece but there are some interesting passages that require a little time spent with them. For those unfamiliar with Mintzer’s Big Band writing, you are in for a treat.
