Bass Player: Dave Holland

Whilst the 2001 album, ‘Bill Frissel with Elvin Jones and Dave Holland’ is not the best recording by any of the three participants, it does have it’s highlights and their sweet little performance of the Henry Mancini/Johnny Mercer tune, ‘Moon River’ is one of the them. The transcription features Dave Holland’s pretty little solo. It is a relatively short chart but crammed with subtle ideas and rhythmic tricks that keep what is an intensely melodic solo interesting.
