Jeff Berlin – Bass

I started this one like a lamb to the slaughter – easy enough, I thought. And then, about two thirds of the way in, wham. Impossible to read and impossible to play (not really, but you get what I am saying). The tune ‘Melancho’ is the opening track from the 1987 Kazumi Watanabe album ‘The Spice Of Life’. I actually saw these two playing together at a clinic at the old Bass Centre in Wapping. The drummer was from Paul McCartney’s band although I cannot recall his name. My first time seeing JB in the flesh (I saw another clinic and the trio gig he did with John McLaughlin and Trilok Gurtu at The Royal Festival Hall). Happy days.
