Steve Rodby – Bass
Potentially the most boring bass line in the history of modern music…. but it’s really not. It’s perfect. Rodby doing exactly what he does best. Not a note out of place, sitting perfectly in the arrangement/mix. One weird moment when he sounds like he is doing a double stop but I think the second note is overdubbed for some reason – you can’t miss it – it sticks out like a sore thumb in the transcription.
The tune is ‘Last Train Home’ from the 1987 Pat Metheny masterpiece ‘Still Life (Talking)’. A favourite album for many of us. A really easy read and a fairly easy play (stamina is the issue here, not chops).
