Bass Player: Mark Egan

Previously credited in error to Jaco Pastorius, further research and a damn good thrashing on BAsschat has revealed that the player on this track is former Pastorius student, Mark Egan. Egan was the original bass player with the Pat Metheny Group and has performed with a myriad of other players across the decades including co-fronting in fusion band ‘Elements’ with drummer Danny Gottlieb.

A transcription details Egan’s beautiful rendering of the melody of Jaco’s tune ‘Las Olas’ and is followed by a transcription of a lovely little bass solo. A great recording and one of Bilbo’s favourites.

NB – the title page of the transcription credits it to Jaco. This is an error that we will try to fix as soon as we can get to it.
