Bass Player: Jack Bruce

A highly influential album for the young Bilbo and he still maintains that the bass sound on Cozy Powell’s 1979 album ‘Over The Top’ is the sound that is the ideal he looks for every time he puts on an electric bass. There are a number of transcriptions from that album on the website but this one is the trickiest because of the speed of the piece but also, and this is something he discovered when he took to transcribing the part, the blues bit at the end features some incredibly nuanced playing from Bruce and is testament to his influence as a bass player in the late 1960s and early 1970s.
