Bass Player: Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen
This transcription is only a head chart of a tune called ‘I’ve Got Another Rhythm’. Written by trumpet player Allan Botchinsky, the tune was features on a 1992 duo album he did with double bassist Neils Henning Ørsted Pedersen called ‘Duologue’. The tune is a contrafact and is based around the changes to Gershwin’s ‘I Got Rhythm’ – the first section has 9 bars so there is a glitch in the matrix but, otherwise, it’s the classic 32 bar sequence that underpinned dozen’s of heads written by BeBop legends like Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and a cast of thousands.
The chart is fairly standard BeBop fare but there are some tricky chromatic triplets at the end of the middle 8. The attached video does not feature NHOP and is from a quartet recording led by Botschinky (we cannot find the names of the musicians but it doesn’t sound like Pedersen – research says Charles Famborough is a possibility as he was performing with Botschinky at around this time?). There is no version of the Duologue recording available on YouTube or Spotify but, as this is only a head chart, the attached link is fit for purpose and shows what the head should sound like. You will notice that the bass player on the recording does not play the melody during the head which NHOP does on the ‘Duologue’ recording.
