Bass Player: Will Lee

The busiest bass player in the world? Possibly. We daren’t post his CV here as it would probably crash the site. Suffice to say, Lee has played with everyone from Gary Burton and Pat Metheny to Cher, Sheena Easton and Barbara Streisand. He is difficult to miss, his discography is so extensive.

The chart we have presented here is the tune ‘It’s Your Thing’, an old Isley Brothers song that saxophonist/composer/arranger Bob Mintzer arranged for his 2015 Big Band CD ‘Get Up’. Jazz arrangements of Pop songs can be excruciating but Mintzer is a master arranger whose albums are worth checking out. Most of his work is originals but, occasionally, he adds his touch to something more mainstream. It always sounds like a Mintzer arrangement and this is no exception. Great fun to play along to.
