Mo Foster – Bass
I vividly remember when this album came out. I wasn’t a massive Scorpions fan and hadn’t really heard of Michael Schenker at the time but I had head of Simon Phillips who played drums on this album. It was only today that I found out that it was Mo Foster who played bass on that album (I had thought it was Gary Barden) but, with hindsight, it doesn’t surprise me. I recall that all my Heavy Rock musician friends shared that collective belief that ‘session musicians’ lacked soul and integrity and that it was only musicians who truly understood the genre that could perform it with the requisite energy and commitment. I am sat here quietly smirking at the fact that the group that Schenker put together for this recording were all seasoned studio pros and not hairy oiks who were down with the kids. Mo Foster is another one of those players with a CV to die for.
Someone reminded me of this track today and I thought, ‘I’ve gotta get this one down’. It is a monster to play but it is all very much under your fingers so, if you have the chops, it is not as difficult as it sounded to our 17-year-old full of shit ears.

Bought this album when it came out and was pleasantly surprised how good it was.
First heard Mo Foster on the Jeff Beck album There and Back.
Good choice for your collection Rob.
