Bass Player: John Wetton
John Wetton rose to fame initially fronting the bands King Crimson, U.K. and Asia but other gigs included stints with Family, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep and Wishbone Ash. U.K. were a British Progressive Rock ‘supergroup’ formed by Wetton and former Yes/KingCrimson drummer, Bill Bruford and were originally active from 1977 to 1980. The band was also included keyboards/violin player, Eddie Jobson and former Soft Machine guitarist Allan Holdsworth. Bruford and Holdsworth left in 1978, to form the band Brufrod with Jeff Berlin on bass. Bruford was replaced by drummer Terry Bozzio.
The transcription is the complete John Wetton bass part for the tune ‘In The Dead Of Night’, the opening track from the album. It’s a tough one to crack as it is 7:4 with sections of 4:4 interupted by bars of 5:8 but don’t let that confuse you. It is harder than it sounds.
