Bass Player: Anthony Jackson

‘Rhythmstick’ was a 1990 recording based around the genius of Dizzy Gillespie (he often carried a stick cover in metal bottle caps that he banged on the floort for counting purposes). The band is an ‘all-star’ line up that included people like Dizzy, Phil Woiods, Robben Ford, Airto and Flora Purim. The transcription is the head and first three solo choruses of the Bob Berg tune ‘Friday Night At The Cadillac Club’. It is a straight walking bass line but, as with anything Anthony Jackson does, there ain’t nothing straight about it. The bonus here is that the sessions were recorded on video so the YouTube link is the actual live performance.
