Felicia – Blues Traveler

Bass Player: Bobby Sheehan

Blues Traveler are a Rock band with a unique selling point in the form of singer/harmonica player/lyricist John Popper. As is often the case, however, stella frontmen can mask the strengths of the rest of the band and Bobby Sheehan suffered a little from that. His lines are certainly a little more creative than many of his peers and his personality as a player is actually all over the Blues Traveler albums.

The tune transcribed is called ‘Felicia’ which is from the Bles Traveler album ‘Straight On ‘Til Morning’. In a strange quirk of fate, the album was given to Bilbo in 2000 on a cassette! Accoerdingly, he did not have access to what we old fogeys call ‘the sleeve notes’ and it wasn’t until he bought the CD himself around 10 years later that he learned that the album was engineered by one Brian Sperber. Bilbo and Brian played together in a band with Feeder’s Grant Nicholas in Chepstow in the mid to late 1980s.
