Pat Metheny – Bass

According to my go-to discographies, Metheny played all of the instruments on this recording. It is entirely possible as there is nothing ‘chopsy’ about the part i it is entirely root note based and on the beat so even a guitarist could play it. I am putting it up here precisely because it is easy to read and easy to play. The only issue is that the piece ‘breathes’ in that the pulse ebbs and flows a little and ‘ones’ are not always where you expect them to be. It’s a beautiful tune (as are most of Metheny’s (try ‘Map Of The World – a great movie as well as a great score).
