Distant Early Warning – Rush

Geddy Lee – Bass

I bought this album the day it came out. On vinyl. I have to say, I was starting to lose interest in Rush at the time. Since the previous album, Signals, I was increasingly suspicious of their move towards a more commercial ‘Police/White Reggae (it was a thing)’ sound and shorter songs (any album that didn’t have at least one track that was a side long drew my derision). I have come to enjoy both albums as I have got older – I still don’t listen to ‘Power Windows’ though.

This is the opening track from the 1984 Rush album ‘Grace Under Pressure’. Entitled ‘Distant Early Warning’ it’s a busy little line and is actually easier to read than it is to play (you’ll get what I mean).
