Dave Holland – Bass

I think this trio recorded three albums for ECM, the first in 1975 and the second two in 1985 (the two later albums were recorded at the same time even though they were released separately). The ‘Homecoming’ album (the blue one) was the more composed whilst the ‘In The Moment’ album was a lot freer. This track is from the ‘Homecoming’ album and is a kind of faux-calypso. I always loved this track and had forgotten about it but came across the album yesterday and went straight for this track. The bass part is generally quite playable and even the bass solo is achievable with a little work. The tune is called ‘Calypso Falto’, a great tune written by guitarist John Abercrombie.
