Bass Player: Alphonso Johnson

The tune ‘Behind The Lines’ was originall featured on the 1980 Genesis album ‘Duke’. A Banks/Rutherford/Collins composition, the tune was re-arranged by Collins who created a much funkier version with horns and a great bass line from former Weather Report stalwart, Alphonso Johnson. Johnson was the bass player who preceded Jaco Pastorius into Weather Report but anyhone who has listened to his lines on the ‘Black Market’ and ‘Mysterious Traveler’ albums knows that Johnson plays second fiddle to no-one.
