Hans Glawischnig – Bass
I love this guys work with the Miguel Zenon bands but this tune is not from a Zenon album (although I believe the Puerto Rican alto saxophonist is on the recording). This is only a relatively brief section of the performance as I couldn’t get underneath later sections but this is an interesting Latin groove that is worth having a look at if you like this sort of thing (which I REALLY do). It’s worth pointing out that this performance sees the Austrian on electric bass (he mostly plays double bass with Zenon).
The tune is called ‘Dance Step’ and comes from the 2004 Paoli Mejías album, ‘Mi Tambor’. Mejías is a world class percussionist with an incredible CV that, as well as Zenon, includes Chick Corea, Tito Puente, Eddie Palmieri and a host of other Latin artists.
