Renaud Garcia-Fons – Bass

I heard this when driving and thought that this section would make a great Etude. The piece is called ‘Bolbol’ and comes from the 2001 Renaud Garcia-Fons recording ‘Navigitore’. It is a twelve bar passage from the 3:23 point. It is 5:4 and is a challenging read for that reason alone but, actually, it is mostly pentatonic and there is an very accessible logic in there. The part is actually played arco but you can play it perfectly well pizzicato so electric player should have a crack at this also. It is playable although it may take a few run throughs to learn how to contain the rising feeling of panic…
