Louis Armstrong – Trumpet
I first heard this song on the soundtrack top the 1993 Meg Ryan/Tom Hanks film, ‘Sleepless In Seattle’ and fell in love with it immediately. It never ceases to bring a smile to my face. It is not muso territory, just pure entertainment but the trumpet solo is something else. Pure joy. The solo is very close to the melody but Armstrong just bleeds the Blues into it and that one five note phrase over two beats is genius. It’s only the solo today as I am in that kind of mood. I put the solo into the bass register so it can be played on a 4-string.
