Carlos Henriquez – Bass

Another from the Marsalils stable, the tune ‘Feeling Of Jazz’ was a Diane Reeves features vocal tune from the 2004 Wynton Marsalis album, ‘The Magic Hour’. This ol’ New Orleans stuff is great. Henriquez plays some great down home bass at a tempo that most of us will deal with reasonably well but there are a couple of bear traps in there and it is important to listen to the phrasing as there are some bent and slurred notes that are hard to get written down but are essential top the feel of the performance. May be worth listening to it before you play. Some ‘is that a wrong note’ moments in there but I don’t think they are, I think CH has better ears than me.
